Creating and Managing Your TRS Online Services Account

If you are an employer who will use one or both of the new employer reporting systems (the Employer Insurance Deduction System, implemented in August 2014, or the Wage & Contribution Reporting System, implemented in November 2014), you must create a TRS Online Services user account. Only one account is needed to access both systems.

Step-by-step instructions are provided in this section. You can click one of these links to jump to that topic:

Create your TRS Online Services account

Update your account information or password

Recover a forgotten username or password

If you are reading this page online, you have reached the TRS Account Security screen (pictured below) on the TRS website.

To create your TRS Online Services account:

1.In the New User section of the TRS Account Security screen (pictured above), click the Create button.

Warning-20 Important:  If you previously had a user account for the older employer reporting systems, that account no longer works.

2.On the Create Account screen, complete all fields that are marked with an asterisk. Be sure to read all instructions at the top of the screen.

Your username will be visible to TRS Information Technology staff. If you are an additional user, your username is also visible to your employer’s Online Administrator for purposes of giving you access to one or both of the employer reporting systems.

oUsernames are not case sensitive. Example: If you create the username JSmith49, the system will also accept jsmith49.

Your password must be at least eight characters long and must include both letters and numbers. Passwords are case sensitive; this means that if you create a password like 101XYZ925, typing 101xyz925 will not work.

oYour password hint should remind you what your password is, without revealing it. Example: favorite color + dad’s birth year.

oYour password is not visible in the system, nor will you be asked to share it with TRS or your online administrator. Do not give your password to anyone.

oPasswords expire every six months. If you remember your password -- even if it has expired -- you can use it to log in and the website will prompt you to change it.

Security questions are used to confirm your identity if you forget your username or password. Be sure to select questions that have clear answers that you are not likely to forget.

Use your work email address if at all possible rather than a personal email account.  If you forget your password in the future, your password hint will be sent to you by email.

To update your account information or password:

1.In the Existing User section of the TRS Account Security screen (pictured above), enter your username and current password; then check the box next to the statement, I would like to edit my account information after login.  Click the Login button.

2.When your account information displays, update it as needed.

3.Be sure to click the Save button to store your changes.

To recover a forgotten username or password:

1.In the Existing User section of the TRS Account Security screen (pictured above), click the Forgot your Username or Password? link.

2.Follow all instructions that appear on the screen. Here is an overview of the process.

If you have forgotten your username:

oClick the appropriate link, then enter your first name, last name, and email address. The system will attempt to find a user account that matches the name and email address you entered.

If your user account is found, TRS will send you an email containing the username and password hint that exists for your account.

If your user account cannot be found, double-check the information you entered and make corrections as needed. If it still cannot be located, you may need to create a new account.

If you know your username but have forgotten your password:

oEnter your username and provide answers to the security questions that you set up when you created your account.

If your answers match, your identity is confirmed. TRS will send an email containing the password hint that you entered when you created the password.

If your identity is not confirmed, follow onscreen instructions to request assistance.

If you received an email containing your password hint but you still can’t log in:

oFollow instructions provided in that email to request assistance. (Note: TRS does not know your actual password.)
